About

Amanda Kye Tan is a Singaporean conductor and violinist whose work spans performance, education, and entrepreneurship.As Associate Conductor of Kids’ Philharmonic Orchestra (Singapore), she has led concert tours in China and Taiwan, collaborating with youth orchestras including the Taipei Philharmonic Youth Ensemble, and the Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre Chamber Orchestra. In addition, she served as Conductor of the Singapore University of Social Sciences Philharmonic in 2025. Amanda made her conducting debut in 2019 at the Singapore Chinese Orchestra’s workshop-concert under the mentorship of Tsung Yeh, and was subsequently appointed Conducting Fellow of the Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra.Driven by a passion for community music-making, Amanda founded the Last Minute Orchestra in 2023, a venture orchestra dedicated to creating performance and networking opportunities beyond traditional boundaries. Since its launch, the initiative has engaged more than 250 participants across 4 orchestral camps. In 2025, it launched its formal artistic extension, the Last Minute Artist Orchestra (LMAO), with an inaugural programme of Dvořák and Rachmaninoff featuring pianist Noah Zhou.In 2026, Amanda was selected to participate in the Pacific Music Festival’s inaugural Conducting Academy, where she studied in Sapporo, Japan, with David Robertson and conducted the PMF Orchestra in concert. Her international studies have also included masterclasses with Jorma Panula, Sian Edwards, Neil Varon, Peter Stark, Apo Hsu, Sarah Ioannides, and Dianne Wittry. In 2023, she assisted Codruț Bîrsan in Chicago Summer Opera’s production of Le Nozze di Figaro.Amanda holds a Master of Music in Conducting from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee (USA), where she studied conducting with Bruce Hangen, violin with Lynn Chang, and dance conducting with Geneviève Leclair. During her time in Boston, she worked with Boston Symphony Orchestra musicians Robert Sheena and Owen Young through orchestral repertoire classes and co-founded the Boston Conservatory Pops Orchestra. She also holds a degree and two diplomas in violin and conducting from the Royal College of Music (London) and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), and is a 2022 recipient of the Singapore National Arts Council Arts Scholarship.Alongside her conducting work, Amanda freelances as a violin teacher, lectures on music history and conducting at the University of the Arts Singapore, and works as a content producer for Twoset Violin.

Amanda offers private violin lessons taught in the comfort of your home. Many of her students have attained distinctions in the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) examinations, as well as offers from secondary school music programs and college extracurriculars. Her decade-long teaching experience ranges from children as young as 3, to working adults learning for leisure.Amanda believes in learning the violin holistically and covers a range of different topics, including music theory and music history during lessons. Students are also invited to perform for their peers in annual studio recitals.The studio is a proud partner of The Happy Violinist, and is accepting students on selected afternoons and evenings. Amanda also exclusively teaches orchestral conducting through Voyage Music.Please contact Amanda directly for more information on violin lessons.
